Listen to the softness of the sea, the surf, and reach your inner peace as you drink in the vista before you. Soft colors, soothing and sensual beckon. "stay awhile". Yet in those surroundings you see an elegant & romantic place to relax. Taking traditional colors and spinning them into an environment that is both pleasing to the eye and adds a contemporary spin on traditional pieces. Mirrors are reflecting the soft palette. We added soft drapery sheers to the openings of both rooms to further add to the ambiance. Going back to the pastels of the past yet refreshing them for today's home.

Thrown into the mix are impressionist’s accents.

There are no rules to follow. Today's successful designers use their imagination to bring forth ideas to fruition. No boundaries exist. Combining a mixture of nature, elegance of the past with taking a more contemporary spin and use of color, we achieve both a space that is functional, spacious, elegant and timeless.

Mary Mitchell Designs

Mary Mitchell has 25 years experience in all aspects of design, including custom building and renovation. She has completed projects both in the US as well as abroad. Some of the most notable projects include the Morrocan Embassy, Ambassador Banassa’s homes in Egypt, France and Potomac Maryland, Assistant to the English Ambassador private residence and London Flat, Brazil Ambassador Fernandez private residence and the Japanese Embassy. Mary has worked with Kacki Hockersmith and Hillary Clinton, as well as Mrs. Barbara Bush, and Senator Strom Thurman. Mary has also worked on the Bombay India Club and the South West Restaurant in Old Town Alexandria.

Mary is currently working with Adrian Edwards Builders at the Reserve in Potomac on several private homes over 15,000 sq ft. Also, she is working with Partner's in Real Estate on building a smart home from blue prints to finished products.

Mary has been published several times. She has been published in Cottage Design and Elegant Interiors, as well as articles in the Fairfax Connector, and Free Lance Star.
