"Not being able to date a room is the key to timeless design ... modern, but never 'trendy', elegant, but never 'fussy' and comfortable and familiar, but never 'worn or tattered' are traits I try to achieve in homes I design for clients!" In the hectic time we are living, it is with delight to enter the quiet and enveloping "Gentleman's Retreat". Getting away from it all for a little nap; losing yourself in that wonderful new novel or CD; attending some overdue correspondence to that special someone; or maybe just a fun shopping spree on ebay can all be done in this special place!

The walls are lined with a putty color linen from Kravet Fabrics, with drapery treatments in Garnett, a printed linen in taupe and moss from Lee Jofa's newest collection for the Royal Oaks Foundation. All textiles are from Lee Jofa and Kravet and are in shades of moss, cement, putty, ivory and celery. And yes, my friends, moire is back! The draperies are enhanced by a celery moire called Payge from the Royal Oaks Foundation and it is also used on two small chairs in the room.

About Wayne Breeden

E. Wayne Breeden's design career began more than 25 years ago and keeps his clients' personalities and needs in the forefront. Having a foundation in Fine Arts always helps
Breeden to view each project as an empty canvas; remembering that a room has four corners just like a canvas and they each share equal weight toward the finished product.

Wayne acknowledges and honors the influence of the late Margot Wilson, Bob Waldron, Tony Childs and "Jack" Spate in developing his style. We in Washington, are extremely lucky to be surrounded by such wonderfully talented Interior Designers

Breeden has completed installations throughout the U.S., as well as, Italy, Amsterdam and Hong Kong. He is currently working on his most difficult project to date for his most difficult client to date (himself), a condo in West Palm Beach for his life-partner, John Hunter, and himself to escape to for a little R & R.

Breeden manages the Kravet/Lee Jofa showroom in the Washington Design Center, while maintaining a select clientele. When asked how he juggles it all his reply is, "If you are doing what you love then it really doesn't seem like work!"
