Lorna Gross
Gold Rush Ladies Boudoir
Return to the glamorous days of early Hollywood when Art Deco was all the rage and the women appearing on the "big screen" were a powerful, beautiful force. The day called for glitz in every sense of the word. In this room, we wanted to honor the starlets of yesterday, like Garbo and Dandridge, as well as the hard-working ladies of today who deserve to have a retreat to call their own. Our goal was to balance a woman's femininity with her strength. The room is anchored by a dramatic tete-a-tete and surrounded by soft, flowing metallic sheers under wrapped cornices. Industrial art deco lines of the screen, chest and armoire are a perfect contrast to the skirted slipper chairs. Touches of apricot and slate blue complement regal gold, which is befitting of the queen in every woman.
At SAVANT, we believe that couture doesn't have to be sacrificed for comfort. You really can have it all.
About Lorna Gross
Lorna Gross, ASID, is the owner and lead designer of SAVANT Interior Design.
Her signature style is one that balances fashion for the home with comfort for its residents. She says, "What I do best is marry couture and comfort. My clientele want the 'wow-factor', but they also need a place where they can relax."
Lorna's approach is based on the use of timeless pieces and she relies heavily on texture, color, and unique accoutrement, ensuring that her clients' spaces are warm and inviting ─ without being cluttered. She believes that residences should be designed to reflect her client's personality and capture their essence.
"I'm inspired by the individuality of each client ─ their wit, their hobbies, their culture, their lifestyle. The list could go on forever, but all of it helps me create the ideal design for them." Gross also recognizes that her clients have busy schedules, so she strives to make the design process as seamless as possible. Her clients applaud her for her unique style, her attention to detail, and her ability to make their experience hassle-free.
Gross and her trademark designs have been featured in nationally and regionally recognized periodicals, such as Capitol File, Washington Spaces, and ICON magazines, as well as the Washington Post, Gazette, and STAR newspapers.
She has a B.A. in Interior Design from Marymount University and business degrees, including an M.B.A. and B.S. from the University of Maryland's Smith School.
