Design House at The Washington Design Center

Each spring and fall, The Washington Design Center unveils a new Design House, an on-site designer show house, sponsored in part by a national shelter magazine or publication such as Veranda, Southern Accents, House Beautiful, Architectural Digest or Traditional Home. Each new season offers a new theme for the house, that features beautifully appointed rooms created by prominent local interior designers. Each room is inspired by different elements of the theme, whether it be a ladies' sitting room, a 21st-century media bedroom, a Zen tea garden or a weekend log cabin in the mountains, each room offers a unique perspective and interpretation for all to enjoy. Each room showcases the exclusive home furnishings available from The Washington Design Center's showrooms.

What is the Design House?
The Design House was begun to heighten public awareness of the design process, raise the visibility of high-end home furnishings, and promote and increase design education through tours, regularly scheduled consumer seminars and special events. With the ideas gained through the Design House, consumers are then given the opportunity to take advantage of the design services such as
Dial-a-Designer or the Designer Index to assist consumers in purchasing the finest home furnishings available. The furnishings that are used in the Design House rooms are available for purchase through the designer of the room, or by using the above services.

Parking is available at meters surrounding the Design Center, or you may park hourly in the Design Center's garage located on Virginia Ave. at the rear of the building. The garage is open weekdays only from 6am to 8pm. You may also take METRO on the Orange or Blue line trains to the Federal Center, SW station. See Directions.
