The
Washington Design Center
Located in the heart
of our Nation's Capitol, The Washington Design Center is the mid-Atlantic
region's largest single resource and destination for the design industry
offering top industry brands, manufacturers resources, services for design
professionals as well as special events and programs for the trade and
consumers alike. In 1982, The Washington Design Center was converted from
a refrigerated warehouse, originally built in 1919, and a 150,000 square
foot section was added to the original 250,000 square foot warehouse to
create The Washington Design Center as it is today. With just under 400,000
square feet of space, there are over 70 wholesale residential, commercial
and building products showrooms.
As the majority of
the building is a wholesale market for high-end furnishings, The Washington
Design Center is dedicated to providing the finest in home and commercial
furnishings "To the Trade." The "Trade" is an industry term referring
to interior designers, architects, decorators, space planners and design
consultants. To meet the growing demands of the tremendous real estate
growth and desire of homeowners to enhance their homes with the finest
in kitchen and bath designs, a retail level comprised of kitchen, bath
and building products showrooms.
