Bio

A native of South Carolina, Charlotte Palmer Lekakos has been in the design field for 25 years. She received her Bachelor of Arts form the College of Charleston, concentrating in architectural history and Italian language. She further cultivated her love of classical art and design while she lived in Rome for many years – an experience from which she continues to draw inspiration. After returning to South Carolina, she earned her BA in interior design.

Charlotte (neé Willard Palmer) opened her eponymous studio in 1996. Her projects have included Washington-area and South Carolina residences, as well as installations for Dumbarton House Museum and Catholic University. Before her career in design, Charlotte worked as an Italian language interpreter and translator, and collaborated with the Save Venice Foundation and Kohler Co..

Charlotte’s projects reflect her talent for mixing family heirlooms with new pieces to create warm and lively interiors. Her goal each time is to create a comfortable and original expression of her clients’ own tastes and sensibilities. “Once I understand a clients’ vision for their surroundings, I enjoy experimenting with layers of old and new, then using color, lighting and fine details to offer an inviting and meaningful setting for their lifestyle,” she says.

Charlotte lives in Chevy Chase, Md., with her husband and two children, a menagerie of animals and a baby-blue Vespa.
